And it is a non-negotiable if you are starting a business you need to start your email list and I know that social media sound sexy and you may enjoy spending time on there but the thing is if you spend all of your energy trying to gain followers on social media you don’t own those followers you don’t own anybody really but what I mean by that is if your Instagram breaks down or they turn it off tomorrow lost your entire audience that you work so hard to build but your email list you own that you have a direct line to your Audience by sending emails and you don’t have to fight with the algorithm so take a quick second and let me know down in the comments are you growing your email list or are you starting from zero all right so now that we know that the email list is important and why you need to have one let’s talk about lead magnets and I’m sure you’ve heard people talk about lead magnets I’m sure you’ve heard talk about canva and those are good tips and they’re all valid what I found is that with some small business owners they don’t want to leverage canva they don’t understand it they’re not designers they feel overwhelmed buy it if that’s the case you can consider free shipping you can consider a discount coupon code in exchange for an email address.
If you are going out and mowing lawns and you have a lawn care service or you’re going out and cleaning houses you can ask for an email address write it down on a piece of paper give something in exchange for it like a coupon or a discount and now you have that email address you can just go on your free Gmail account and send email to those people that give you your email address it really can be that simple if you have a brick and mortar put a signup sheet out on your counter and ask people to give you their email address for whatever you’re giving them in exchange if you’re more online and you’re into canva or Google Docs or Microsoft Word can consider creating a digital lead Magnet or freebie still keep it simple think about what your target audience needs right now if you sell physical products like custom candles create a short guide like how to make your candles last longer and boom you have your lead magnet if you’re a service-based business create a template or a checklist or a quick start guide something they can download and put to use right away keys to offer something helpful that solves a small problem for your audience.

Or WooCommerce using a basic page template you just want to add a signup form embedded in that page that’s linked to an email platform like it or MailChimp something like that that way when someone signs up they get an automated email that’s delivered to them and it includes a link to download your freebie and here’s a little bonus tip for e-commerce business owners use your thank you page that comes up during your checkout process.
And put an offer for your freebie there to really supercharge your email list growth if you’re a content creator or a maker trying to build your email list you can use a completely free tool like MailChimp to get started and create a landing page for your lead magnet and if you don’t have a website it’s not a problem if you do have a website you might want to consider creating ad Banner that links to that landing page or talk about it in a blog post and just link to that landing page you can also have like opted monster or when somebody visits your website and after they’re there for a few seconds the lead form will pop up and they can put in their email address and download your freebie there’s multiple ways to do this secret to growing your list fast is to share it literally anywhere and everywhere your target audience is whether it’s online or offline for coaches or service based business owners platforms like kit allow you to create a custom landing page with an automated email sequence in minutes what you really want to focus on is making sure that your landing page conveys the value of your freebie.
