How to Teach Online in 2024 | No Degree, 0 Experience: 3 Steps to Build Your Side Hustle

Alrighty, so we have debunked all the myth now the deal, how to get started to be an online tutor for any subject without an education degree or any prior experience. Just like starting a YouTube channel, the initial step can be the hardest and nerve wrecking it.

Is it really is okay, I’ve got some tips for you to get started as an online tutor.

At the beginning of this video, I told you that I have a three level framework level 1 getting started.

How do you actually get started where how, when now, I’m, answering that question for you when to get started now period how to get started? The first thing that you have to do is actually identify your interest and passion.

What are you really passionate about, or you are somehow good at it – could be chess painting, music languages? Solving equations choose something that you are good at or you have passion in, because if you are looking at this long term, passion is something that really motivates you and the money too, of course, now narrow your focus into one subject, not two, not three, just one.

If you are really good at coding – and you are really good at physics start with one okay, you can start with coding and then expand your services to physics or math or something else at the very beginning, just one just one.

We are gon na dive into it.

We are gon na narrow down.

We are gon na pick, our niche be specialised.

Okay, remember just now. I said that we don’t have to be a guru.

Nobody starts as a guru.

Yes, I stand with that and yes, you, don’t have to be an expert.

You’re not trying to be Einstein right now.

You just have to be good at it and at least one level better than your student that you can guide them.

You can help them and you can do it most importantly, you have to have something valuable to offer.

You can’t be teaching people how to code, but you can’t code, you know what I mean, but if you can code it’s time to brush up the teaching skills, because you might be able to code really well, but when it comes To teaching when it comes to explanation that might be a problem, don’t worry.

We will practice when you practice more when you teach more, that will be okay, focus on getting started, identify your passion, your interest choose a subject dive into it.

Teach at least three lessons: okay, you have to conduct at least three lessons just to get yourself comfortable in teaching like okay.

This is how it works. Hmmm yeah, I feel okay about it, and then we can move forward to step to level 2 level.

3.

Now level, 1, so the next question is where to start considering you are starting from scratch.

You have no portfolio, you have never teach before start with a platform with existing student base, so you don’t have to do all the marketing leverage.

The online existing platform as your springboard to practice and to build your portfolio.

This is very essential.

Your portfolio is very important, say for me.

I’m teaching languages.

The best place for me to start was on Italki Verbling Amazingtalker, you name it.

There are a lot of it. There are also freelancer platform like Upwork Fiverr, where you can sell your services research.

The platform pick a platform that, without you needing a laundry list of qualifications sign up start just start.

I’ll list some of the tutoring platforms down there.

Sometimes the platform they are quite friendly to the newcomer.

So if you are a new teacher, you will get some sort of exposure at the beginning only at the beginning.

Okay and after that, everybody will enjoy the same benefit.

If you are good, you are ranked higher if you are not good yeah.

Now that you have signed up, you have registered, everything is done.

It’s, time to build your digital storefront.

Your profile is your first place to shine so make sure you include your bio, your highlight what you can do, what you can offer, what are you good at so when people look at your video or when people look at your bio, they kind of expect what They can get and make sure you actually deliver what you promise because yeah when we sign up for something I’m expecting I could get the services that I am promised. Make sure that you add your teaching styles.

You actually kind of explain your teaching styles.

Make sure your rate is transparent if you are charging 30, make sure it’s, 30, okay, and if you are offering a package discount, if they buy 5 or 10, lessons more make sure it’s clear too, and your availability try to make it consistent Because we love consistency, it is also very important to be responsive to inquiries, not just when you get started and also along the way when students reach out don’t keep them waiting.

Like two days three days, I mean like few hours yeah that’s, fine, a quick response, actually shows that you are interested it’s like a handshake in the digital world, like hey, hey, right, hello, and that is where your business is coming.

Now you have your when, where how it’s time to get started.

Your first two or three lessons don’t stress over fancy, equipment, apps or lesson material like fancy material.

Your first three sessions is actually your practice ground to build you some confidence to.

Let you actually test the water, whether you like it or whether what you can do better.

They don’t have to be perfect yet, but eventually you have to get better.

The goal is to get comfortable in teaching to get used to teaching. So don’t over think about it and don’t do the paralysis analysis, no just start and try to learn as you teach after your first few initial sessions, it is decision time whether you are taking it as a part time gig or you are Here, for a long term venture I mean we still have to be a good tutor.

We still have to be responsible, no matter.

You are for part time or full time, long term short term.

You kind of have to be committed to teaching because your students are there, for you determine how many sessions you can comfortably offer each week.

If you can offer only 10 lessons make sure you will only open 10 availabilities.

If you can offer 40, you can do 40, it’s entirely up to you.

This is a good thing about tutoring online isn 39.

T it remember that consistency is your secret ingredient, treat your tutoring journey, whether part time full time as a true profession, and you will open door to a lot of growth and learning.

Maybe if you are just taking it as a part time, you will really enjoy it and you will turn full time right.

We never know. I personally really enjoy teaching building relationship with my students, the young children.

I am really happy whenever I see them learning introduce some new concepts to them when I teach them about boundaries, or some moral values is just different.

Like the culture exchange.

Experience is just different.

For example, if I’m teaching a Chinese kids, comparing when I’m teaching, like kids from Europe or from United States, it’s really different to see how a nation, how a culture educate our children, it’s fun for me to mix and To introduce a different culture for a different student level, 2 commitment and growth.

Now you have conducted the few lessons, so it’s time to fine tune.

Your tutoring skills.

We can’t keep stay in the beginner stage or we can’t keep using our newbie card.

Like I,’m, a new teacher, I’m a new tutor.

I mean you have to be creative. You have to be engaging, learn some new teaching techniques go on YouTube or anywhere, and just look how other teacher teach and up skills yourself create some engaging visual, slides or some interactive games.

The possibilities are endless as long as you are willing to dive into it and explore your mission, provides values to your students and help them thrive.

That is our sole mission.

Okay, provide value and help them thrive.

I will also suggest you to keep a close eye on the feedback, because this is where you get a direct constructive feedback from your students or parents and fine tuning your teaching approaches.

So how do you actually learn how to be a tutor right? I’ll break it into three parts.

First, knowledge: hunting dive into articles blogs, YouTube, Coursera, ESL, just immerse yourself in all these forums or whatever channels that you can find and try to learn their strategies.

If you’re not seeking for these strategies at least the more you watch, the more you learn right: it’s somehow in your subconscious, mind in very important self learning, like I mentioned Cousera Udemy ESL British Council.

I’m talking from a language perspective.

If you’re a teaching math, you can find something else, Khan Academy, painting something else, Skillshare chess, something else: Chess com pick your niche and learn from the professionals, because we are new, we have to be really engaged in self learning. This is the only way that you get yourself better in tutoring.

It’s also very important to learn how to use some tools.

Google Classroom, Canva Zoom, you name it last but not least, trial and error.

Teaching and learning is a continuous process, so be prepared for trial and error.

Whatever you learn, you practice, you deliver it to your students and just check for some feedback.

If the feedback is pretty good, we know that we can move on.

We can continue with that strategies or with the lesson plan or with the materials.

If it doesn’t really work that well, that’s, okay, we can just grab it and learn something else.

Each lesson thought each student interaction will hone your skills, so learn apply, learn, deliver, learn and learn.

Congratulations for staying with me, because now we are moving to Level 3. Finally, it’s time to level up and step into the role of a professional tutor.

Now I suppose that you are in your 30th lessons – and you are in this for a serious matter when I say professional tutor it doesn’t mean that you have to get a professional certificate.

Of course it will be beneficial if you can do that, but what I’m saying here is that you have to think your business like a CEO.

You are owning the business.

You are running the business as a CEO, so you have to start developing your strategic mindset.

You are the CEO of your tutoring empire and your students are your most precious clients.

Your mission remember the mission that we mentioned to provide values and help them thrive.

As simple as that, no it’s, actually not that simple.

I’ll take that back, but level 3 mastering online tutoring go beyond teaching and thing like a CEO to truly shine in the online tutoring market.

I’m not shining yet, but speaking from my personal experience, you have to really understand the dynamic of the market and your potential or prospective client or students their needs, their age, the region where are they located? So you just have to test and error like trying different region different age and see what works the best for you. If you are best in teaching adults stick with that, if you feel better teaching students stick with that, if you work really well with young children, do that it’s entirely up to you! You are your own CEO! So let’s say if you are the algebra guru or if you are the history, wizard stick with that subjects right.

The demand is always there, but you have to look for it that’s.

Why? At the beginning, I say that I mentioned that we have to choose our niche hey baby come here, come here, oops right.

The real question is: how do you market yourself, if you’re aligned to a platform or if you’re attached to a platform? Much of your exposure will come from the algorithm it really highly dependent on the algorithm.

I am not too sure how it works.

Yet I have my own assumption, which I share in this video I tested so yeah back to the question.

If you’re attached or aligned to the platform normally usually they are very kind to the newcomers so grab that opportunity.

Try to leverage that when you are a newcomers, try to get more lessons, build your portfolio, get comments things and that, but don’t stop that you can actually share your expertise on social media, Facebook groups, some discord, some communities or reach out to the people Around you or you can even directly reach out to your potential student.

This is a function on italki where you can actually reach out to your potential students, so you are on Facebook groups or on social media.

When I say Facebook groups, normally you are targeting parents. Okay, because the younger nowadays, I don’t think they’re on Facebook anymore.

Oops did.

I just reveal my age, but anyway, yeah start by promoting or marketing that your service based businesses, you help with tutoring what subjects and your price be transparent and hey don’t stress about having a full fledge website, because at this moment you don’t Really need it 1.

You are still on a platform and 2.

You have time if you really want to venture out as independent tutor, which I will talk about it in the next video focus on getting experience, training, practices, learning and growth and think, like a CEO understanding, your market, polish, your skills, your initial focus, should be.

What is most important for you and what is going to make the biggest differences is to get your tutoring business start right now, ASAP not like having a full fledged websites or you need to have a perfect profile picture or you need to shoot perfect videos.

Now I remember when I started I took like okay, I took like one hour to shoot the 2 minutes, video or 3 minutes introduction video, because I was super awkward, but really you don’t need to know everything before you start.

If you are considering to be an online tutor, these are the two rules of thumbs that you should be following.

First offer high quality lessons.

Yes and yes, you have to offer high quality lessons, and after every session, your students will feel like hey. I learned something.

This is a quality lessons and I’m happy about it.

2 be patient and persistent.

There’s, no overnight success in everything I mean they might be, but for normal people like us as long as we commit in doing something eventually, the student will come and when the student come, you offer good services, good tutoring sessions and the money will come, But the first thing is that you actually provide good services and be persistent and commit in doing it.

So don’t get discouraged.

If you don’t see any progress at all, just keep learning keep delivering or you have to do something to change your bio, your or look into your videos or do some changes, and eventually you will achieve your goal.

Thank you for joining me today.

Remember, commitment, improvement and strategic thinking are your keys to success.

Core Experience # 1

natural spirituality has three core experiences each experience has an associated practice and faculty this video is about the core experience of flow [Music] for experience number one flow practice surrender faculty mind surrender is mental to be in flow we must surrender to what is surrender does not mean defeat or giving up but entails acceptance of those things we don't have control over we don't have control over another person's thoughts or actions nor can we have ultimate control over collective ideas and habits we have no control over ultimate reality and things like natural law the universe and all life forms within it operate in certain ways we can influence natural laws but we can never actually change their inherent structure an example of this is the law of death everything dies eventually we can influence the natural law of death by exerting control over its timing for us through things like careful and healthy living that death is a natural law that no one can escape without acceptance of things as they actually are we live lives of delusion and fantasy without our feet being firmly grounded we create chaos and imbalance both for ourself and those we come in contact with we are social creatures to survive our species requires cooperation and there can be no cooperation where another person's reality is not acknowledged and validated in conjunction with our own to have the capacity to be aware of another's reality as it actually exists for them we first have to have the capacity to attune to our reality as it actually exists for us this means accepting and acknowledging the parts of our self and our lives that are painful those parts that we'd rather avoid to do this we have to connect with our emotions and bodily sensations just as much as we connect with our minds if we take an honest look at our life and tap into our baseline emotional state most of us will find things like deep pain disappointment anger and dissatisfaction this is our true reality our mind does a nice job of telling us things like you shouldn't feel this way or you have a great life so stop being ungrateful when we disregard our feelings we fragment ourselves giving control of our lives over to only one part of our being a part that actually does a very poor job of guiding and protecting us as it gives us recycled and sometimes even self-abusive counsel the reason the mind is not the best guide for life is that it is made up of the other other people's ideas opinions etc the body is closer to being 100 us and can therefore never really lie to us or lead us astray we know better than anyone else what is best for us and our body and emotions are pure and contaminated sources of feedback the mind exerts dominance out of the need for security when we give up control of our lives over to our emotions and bodies it can be scary at first but this is when we begin to experience flow flow is reality flow is the ultimate dance of interdependence and cooperation by accepting our own truth using our emotions and body as feedback we tap into reality as it actually exists for us once we've made this shift from mind to heart based living then we can see and accept the reality of any other as well through connecting with our authentic self we realize that everyone is different with different realities this makes us aware of all the different realities that exist including cosmic realities awareness of the infinite realities in existence teaches how to be in flow which is simply the process of being in touch with our reality in conjunction with the realities of all others including god itself being in flow we learn how to be flexible and dance with life instead of avoiding it through control and denial if you like this content and would like to see this channel grow be sure to subscribe and like videos as these actions help youtube's algorithm make this channel's content available to a larger audience you

Website Software Setup – Build a Custom Website – Lesson 2

hi and welcome back to the build your custom
website course my name's Dan i'm a software   engineer and systems analyst with wp update and
i'll be looking after you today in today's session   we're going to be doing a couple of things firstly
we'll be preventing search engines from accessing   our beta site that's our pre-launch site we'll
be configuring the url structure and settings   for wordpress and we'll be installing the base
website artwork ready for session three today's   requirements are fairly straightforward you just
need a little bit of time and a little bit of   patience so you may have noticed last session
we installed wordpress and i wanted to quickly   address why we went with wordpress as opposed
to one of the managed free online services so   let's do a quick comparison the free services are
absolutely fantastic but there are a couple of   limitations with them the first of course is that
you only have limited control over your artwork   whereas with the custom wordpress site you've
got thousands of different themes and with a bit   of php knowledge you can completely customize
them or you can hire someone to do it for you   there's only limited or restricted components
within the free websites as well they give you   a set of tools that you can use and they are
the only tools that you can use whereas with   wordpress it's almost infinitely extendable you
can add plugins you can add functionality you   can add add-ons you can extend just about
any component of wordpress to turn it into   more than it is when you started there can
be locked or limited e-commerce options   with the free ones where they will give you a type
of product or an item that you have to use as in   you know it needs to be a single product you can't
do a variation say colors on t-shirts for example   whereas with custom wordpress there are dozens of
free e-commerce plugins and and extensions that   allow you to do just about anything we're touching
that in the master class a little bit later on with the free ones you really can customize
or extend the functionality within   their their framework as opposed to
wordpress you can hire a programmer to   customize just about any aspect of your website
and extend it to do just about anything you like   with the free versions they're quite hard to
migrate as well so if you're on a prominent   platform that gets advertised a lot on youtube and
you decide that you no longer want to be with that   platform they have complete control over your site
you cannot with any deal of ease move from one   host to another whereas wordpress is very very
easy to migrate it's portable so if you decide   you don't like siteground anymore and move to
hostgator or godaddy it's a fairly straightforward   process to do that you don't have to be
locked into a single host if you're not happy   so what we're going to be looking at mainly is the
permalink the permalink is the structure of your   url or the web address of the individual pages
on your website they have a surprising impact   on search engine optimization and a really big
impact on clickability so let's just quickly look   at an example here so a default out of the box
wordpress page will have a url of question mark   page underscore id and then a number with
the permalink structure correctly set up   we can change that to forward slash blog forward
slash top 10 pizzas in italy for example and you   can already see straight away that that's a little
bit more clickable it's a little bit more friendly   but let's take a look at what it will look like in
say a google search result so if we have a look at   the first one top 10 pizzas in italy uh from the
example travel blog here you can see there the   little green text allows you to see what the url
is and it's not terribly pretty you can tell it's   not been set up well whereas if we tweak that that
suddenly becomes a lot nicer and google in fact   recognizes the hierarchical structure
of the url there and then puts little um   little markers in there i suppose you'd
call them as opposed to just the dashes   which makes it a little bit more professional and
a lot more clickable one other thing to consider   there as well is the second url you'll notice
has some really really nice keywords in there   as well so that will cover you for a top
10 list and that will cover you for pizzas   and italian pizzas as opposed to just a simple
one two six five so again super simple to set up   but a massive impact on the way your site appears
and potentially can rank on google so let's get   set up if you get to your website and you see
this type of error that means that there is a bit   of a problem with the domain registration what
you'll need to do is contact sitegroundsupport   there is a link in the description
below on how to do that and what to say if you see this page when you try to visit
your website or a similar page if you're   using chrome or internet explorer or safari
it means the security certificate hasn't been   installed correctly it's a fairly easy fix all
you'll need to do is contact siteground support   and there is a link in the description
below on how to get there and what to say   all right but in the meantime if
you do see this error that's okay   just make sure that you are 100 sure that is
your website address that we registered last time   click on advanced and then click accept the risk
and continue okay so let's bring up a browser and we're going to navigate to our website so if
you recall from last time the url you entered or   sorry the domain you registered and what we
want to do is type in https and that part is   very important colon double slash and then
your domain so in our case it was error 418 dots coffee put the dot in there and you should see something like this okay so
let's assume that everything's gone correctly   and you can see the website you will see the
my wordpress just another wordpress site and   the very very base thing so what we're going to
do now is go right up to the top to the url bar   and we're going to type in forward
slash wp hyphen login l-o-g-i-n dot   p-h-p so that's wp hyphen login dot p-h-p move
that out of the way and then we're going to hit   enter and that will take you to the wordpress
login page so if you recall from last time we   had a login sent to us from siteground
so just put in your email address there and then enter the password you would have
entered when you set up the account and   don't forget down here there's a lost
your password if you get stuck as well and there we go there's our wordpress starter
so we're just going to exit the wizard we're   not going to worry about that at the
moment just click the exit button down   the bottom and now we are in our wordpress
control panel or the wordpress dashboard   let me go full screen and i'm just going to zoom
in so you can see things a little bit easier all right so for today's exercise as i mentioned
before we're looking at setting up permalinks   blocking search engines from seeing
our beta site or our pre-launch site   and going through the general
settings for wordpress   so what we're going to start with over here
is going to settings and then going to general we want to add your site title in here so this
is the name of your business or the name of your   site and it will appear in search engines
so in our case we're going to be error 418   and the tag line is a secondary
catchphrase that you can use for your site   on and that appears in search engine results on
pages that aren't necessarily super optimized   for search engine optimization
so for us it's going to be resources the next thing we're going to
do is go down to the wordpress   address url and we're going to take the
http there and then stick a little s in   there so you should end up with https colon
slash and then the domain you registered   and what that's going to do is that's going to
force new visitors into the site onto the secure   version there's two advantages to that firstly
it's encrypted end to end so that means that   it protects people who are visiting your site
from a thing called a man in the middle attack   and also very very handy for google they really
like a uh a good security certificate set up   rather than insecure standard http websites
so we'll do that for the wordpress address url   and the site address the next thing is your
email we just want to make sure that that is okay   and that can stay as your personal
email for the moment but before we   launch we'll set that up to be the email
address we registered in the last video now we don't need to worry about
membership or user roles right now we   just keep short make sure that is unchecked
the subscriber role doesn't matter at all   set the site language to whatever you prefer
so we're going to be operating largely in the   uk so we'll go with english uk but you can
see there there are several other languages   available and you can set it up to whatever you
prefer or whatever your target market will need don't worry too much about
the date and time format   and for us the week will start on monday so once
you're happy with your settings there and again   feel free to pause the video and just have a
bit of a think if you'd like to put a bit more   time into that but once you're happy scroll
down to the bottom and hit save changes now because we changed to https we got booted
back out of the site so we'll need to log in again and once we're in those settings will
be saved okay so we'll skip the writing   part we'll deal with that a little bit
later and then go straight to reading now this is for the blog management part of
the site we won't need to worry about most   of this for the this course what we do want to
do though is set the search engine visibility   so we want to just check that make sure it's
set to discourage search engines from indexing   this site and what that does is that asks google
bing yahoo yandex and and dozens of other sites   not to index this which helps us which well
gives us time to build the site out without   having to worry about people seeing it a little
bit early so once that's been checked hit save   okay the next thing we're going to
do is head over to the discussion tab now this looks after how people interact
with blog posts and with pages on your site   so we're going to under default posts settings
here we're just going to uncheck those first three   and what that does is that
prevents people spamming us   with comments and pingbacks for other sites so
scroll all the way down and then save changes   all right change is saved the next thing we're
going to head to is the permalinks setting okay so if you recall back at the start of the
lesson we were looking at different permalinks and   different structures for urls so i've found the
most effective one to be the custom structure   what we're going to do is just click on custom
structure there delete the contents of that   and then add a category and then a
post name and that gives that canonical   or hierarchical uh url structure and allows us
to put some really nice keywords in the urls   which google and bing likes a lot we're
going to scroll down to the save changes and there we go that's the permalink structures
updated and privacy we're going to worry about   just a little bit later on in the course what
we're going to do next is from the permalink   settings we're going to mouse over appearance
and then go to themes you'll see we already   have some pre-installed ones there but i'm
not a big fan of them they tend to be very   standard and lots and lots of people
use them so what we're going to do   is install a new theme from the wordpress
theme library so top left click add new you can see we get a whole heap of themes
available to us and there are literally tens of   thousands of themes we're going
to use a very very popular theme   with a very very popular customizable web builder
to make this site as easy as possible to manage   so in the search themes up the top right
there i would like you to type zeta z-i-t-a and we will look for the first result there
which is zeta itself it's uh presently got the   the blue with the fella that looks like
marshall from how i met your mother   and then click on install that will
just take a few moments to install and then once that's done
we're going to click activate all right so that is now our base theme
installed and because we don't want   any of this stuff here i'd
like to clean up afterwards so   we click on theme details as we mouse over say
2019 and then on the right hand side delete   and then okay all right and they will do that for
all of the themes that we're not using so 2017   delete okay and then again for the 2020 delete
and okay and if you have anyone in any other   themes in there do the same thing until you get
presented with just this big fat zeta theme block   all right cool so we'll close that off okay so
what i really like about zeta is that it has   a whole heap of pre pre-built imports that we can
use to customize our site straight out of the box   so to install one of those what we want
to do is go over to the left again to zeta   options which is just under background there and then we've got the import starter site   on the left-hand side and that asks you to install
the importer plug-in so we'll click on that one   and that will just take a few moments to
go through all right so once that's done   you'll see the seed library button and the
the same spot as before click on that one and again if i'm going a bit quick feel free to
pause go back more than happy to wait for you all right so because we're on a budget   and we want to use a decent theme builder which
allows us to drag and drop components on around   the website what we're going to do is start
by filtering the builders down to elementor once that's finished loading we then want to go
to the free ones you can spend some extra money in   gopro if you like in my opinion for most people
it's not worth the effort or worse the funds so we can see here we have about 10 or 12
different options that we can go with for   your site and you can pick absolutely any one of
these you like and it will work with the rest of   the course it will work with your site and the
great thing about this kind of stuff is that   if you don't like it later it's
fairly straightforward to change so have a good look through
what i'd encourage you to do   is mouse over something you like the
look of and click the preview button and that will show you what
it looks like as a site so if you like the theme that's great just
hit install and install if you're not a fan   close that out and then go and have a look at
another one and keep going through the themes and   really really take some time with this because it
is quite important but make sure you're happy with   the components you see on screen with the layout   with the backgrounds because even
though they're customizable the less   we can play with it the easier it's going to
be for us and the quicker we'll get this out so i spotted a really nice luscious dark
looking one down the bottom called the   wine there we go johnny winery now because
i'm going for rich colors and i'm going for   dark and luxurious feel for the site i'm going to
use this one because yeah coffee so click on that   i'm very very happy with the layout for this
one and what it does i think it's it's just   nice i like the transitions i like the the
backgrounds as well but we will change those   a little bit later too all right so once you
are happy with the theme you've chosen click   the install plugins button on the top left or the
one down here doesn't matter does the same thing   all right you can see there it's starting to
light up the different contact servers or sorry   the different plugins that we need to extend
wordpress to make it compatible with this theme   so that's elementor was done
it's now installing woocommerce we won't worry about woocommerce too much at
this point we do cover it quite extensively   in the master class but right now it's just the
thing that we need to install okay so once that's   completed you'll know the notice the button change
to import this site so click on that one next   make sure you have a quick read of
that and you're happy and then hit ok you'll see there it's starting to import the
site and import pages and any media it needs   it's worth noting as well this media is not
licensed so you will need to replace it with   your own photos or with photos that we source
from a royalty free or stock photo service   which we'll go through in another class so
that's now just importing the last of it   and that is done so now we
can click done view site now because we're only using the main
page at the moment and we don't have   products and we don't necessarily have a map
organized what we're going to do is quickly   customize this to delete those components   so we'll close that go back to the main service
there and then go to pages on the left hand side you can see it's installed some pages of
its own but the main one we're looking at   is wine shop home so you'll see a marker that's
marked front page and it will also have elementor   it might be marked as home page it might be
marked as as home or welcome but something   front page-ish and then elemental so once you've
found that one click the edit with elementor   like uh link i suppose you call it if you get a prompt like this that's okay just hit
got it we don't need to worry about that right now   and now we're presented with a zoned
blocked version of the web page that   we were looking at before now each one of
these little zones each one of these blue   squares that pop up when you mouse over is
an editable region of the site so what we're   going to do to start with if you have this
on the front page and you don't necessarily   have to have it but it might be there is find
the shop block now as mentioned before we don't   have woocommerce at the moment we're not worrying
about the ecommerce side of things in this course   although we do cover it in the master class so
what we're going to do is just mouse over and then   on the blue tab top right delete
section and that's deleted that block   scroll down again and for the map we're going
to not worry about that for the moment again   so we will just mouse over and
then delete that section as well okay so that's those two sections deleted   back over to the elementor control
panel here and then hit update okay so that is done using the little
hamburger menu on the left hand side click   and then we can view the page and we can see there the shop has been removed
and the map has been removed   so we don't need to worry about those anymore right now once you're here you can either
go back and edit the page a bit more by   using the edit with elementor or you can head
back into the dashboard by mousing over the   name of your site there
and then clicking dashboard okay big day and that is it for this lesson
so to summarize today's session we have   looked at any potential problems with your domain
and ssl certificate and again a quick reminder   that there is information in the description
below on where to find help to get that resolved   we've set up a permalink structure to give us the
best possible chance of having a nice clickable   link when we get searched on google and on bing
and we've also asked google and bing to hold off   indexing our site so that no one can find it while
it's in beta we've added a base theme to the site   and then cleaned up any unnecessary themes
to make sure that we don't have unnecessary   clutter and files on the site imported
a starter theme and did our very first   bit of customization so nice work that's
pretty cool not bad for a short session   and that's it for this session so thank you very
much for sticking it out all the way to the end in   the next session we'll be further customizing the
home page we'll be adding a logo adding some stock   images and telling you how to source stock images
if you don't have your own as well as tweaking the   text and making the home page a bit more your
homepage and a bit less templating before you   start the next session please grab a pen and
paper and jot down your top five things or top   five products that you offer for your your clients
and we'll use that as the basis to build out some   of the content in the next session thank you very
much for watching we'll see you in the next lesson

How to Break Into Investment Banking in 2025 with Zero Experience and a Non-Target Degree

breaking into Investment Banking is so insanely competitive that even Goldman's current CEO was rejected by The Firm twice thousands apply every year for just a few spots and in order to stand out you need every Edge that you can get and so in today's video I'm going to give you 10 crucial tips you'll need for breaking into banking in case you're new here my name is Ben and I'm a former JP Morgan investment banker I was also the JP Morgan UC Berkeley recruiting Captain for 2 years and so I've not only participated in recruiting processes but also LED several recruiting processes as well with that said let's go into tip number one which is understanding the banking industry if you're completely starting from scratch learning what Bankers do and what the culture is like is essential so you know what you're getting yourself into and as you dive deeper and deeper into recruiting you'll learn that there are a lot of important nuances when it comes to each Bank office and group you recruit for for example knowing that pjt New York restructuring is one of the top groups that many Harvard and Wharton students would take over Goldman Sachs but that pjt m& is not it's something you can't really know until you've done a lot of research spoken with bankers and you know maybe watch some of my YouTube videos next on the list is figuring out your entry point and I'm going to break this down into those who are in college and those who have graduated first to cover the basics there are three crucial recruiting timelines for college students the first are diversity and Early Access leadership programs which are easy to get into and are great resume boosters second is Junior Summer internship recruiting which is what leads to the most full-time offers and then there is full-time recruiting senior year which has the fewest spots and so is the hardest path to banking from College banking timelines have been moving earlier and earlier every year and in 2025 you can expect recruiting for junior summer internships to start in the fall of your sophomore year and the majority of offers at top firms will be given out before the spring and so this means that you need to start preparing for interviews as early as your freshman summer because you're going to be so busy networking and attending all those info sessions in the fall of your sophomore year now if you're already out of college then transitioning into banking can happen in one of two ways the first is by applying to a lot of small boutique investment Banks and then laterally to larger and more prominent Banks the second is by getting a master's degree do something like a MERS in finance or an MBA which would be the largest investment but highest probability path to success after you know your entry point you can then create a timeline for when you need to ramp up networking and interview prep so you can really maximize your chances because the vast majority of offers are given out during very specific times of the year all right I hope you're enjoying this video so far and I'm guessing you're watching this video because you're interested in breaking into Banking and on that note I'm really excited to announce that I'm launching my new one-on-one mentorship program called the banking accelerator where I help determine students graduates and early career professionals secure Investment Banking roles that can earn you over $150,000 in your first year on the job regardless of your School degree or past experience my personal guarantee is that if you don't land a banking job in 180 days or less my team and I will work with you for free until you succeed I'll discuss this more at the end of the video but if you're looking to get started right away you can click on the link in this video's description where I'll be explaining all the next steps in detail all right now going back to the video an often overlooked tip at number three on the list is joining the best business organization you can on campus these orgs are important for three reasons first they're going to have internal resources that have been handed down for years and you can really benefit a lot from them second alumni will be more willing to speak with you and connect you with other bankers and third being surrounded by like-minded peers and classmates your age who are recruiting with you will keep you accountable and also make the intense recruiting process feel a lot more bearable I would highly suggest seeing where the orgs at your school have sent their alumni to and try to join the business orgs who have performed the best I personally did this myself and it was a huge game changer for me when I was recruiting next up on the list is maintaining as high of a GPA as possible back when I was at JP Morgan our standard rule was that if you had a 3.3 or below your resume would get thrown into the trash 3.3 to 37 meant you needed to have strong Finance experiences or have networked really hard to get an interview and above a 3.7 would check off the GPA box and move the candidate into the first quartile if they had solid experiences and internships and these standards can be generally applied to most top Bank thanks now given that Junior Summer internship recruiting is now so early what this means is that if you're just starting College your freshman year GPA is super super important so honestly I would try to take some easy classes and if you're older than that keep boosting that GPA as much as you can to maximize your chances next up on the list is arguably the most important one and that is to add as many Finance experiences to your resum as you possibly can if you think about it what good is preparing for interviews and knowing how to build the financial model if you can't even get an interview in the first place Bankers are extremely risk averse when hiring because of the industry's notorious work culture the last thing a banker wants to do is hire someone who didn't know what they were getting themselves into and that they had to work 80 to 100 hour a weeks and then eventually quit and so as a result Finance experience on resumés is super super important and so here's a list of tangible things you should try to add to your resume from most to least important internships at investment Banks inter ship in other Finance Industries like private Equity or equity research internships that involve a finance role like fpna at a tech firm placing in the finals or winning Investment Banking case competitions diversity Early Access and Leadership events you've attended at Blue Chip Banks like Goldman or JP Morgan leadership roles at business organizations or a finance role in a college org and last but not least Financial modeling and valuation related courses and certifications one once you have a strong banking ready resume you're more likely to receive responses during recruiting season from Bankers you reach out to and so networking effectively and having a strategy is the next point on the list one thing I have to note is that nowadays networking's importance has decreased at many bulge bracket Banks due to digital interviews that lead straight to Super days but it's still important in general in the banking recruiting process and especially at Elite Boutique Banks networking itself could be an entire video on its own so I'm going to leave you with three of my most important tips first when it comes to info sessions find your school's recruiting calendar ASAP and attend all the ones you can at the info session itself try to make the best impression possible but because there's so many people you're often going to be forgettable so your goal should be actually to try to get business cards and emails to set up one-on-one calls or coffee chats once you're able to set up these chats either from these info sessions or from cold emailing your goal should be to make these conversations casual and get the banker to like you this is 100 times more important than trying to ask a super super smart question because Bankers work so much with each other and see each other more throughout the week than their families that what's most important to them is them seeing that they can be besides you for so many hours during the week and you have to make them want to refer you to other Bankers the last tip is more of a logistical one which is to make sure you're sending three types of emails to each Banker first confirmation emails the day before your speaking with them second thank you emails whenever you chat with them and then third update emails whenever you finish interviews or secure an offer at the bank even if you get rejected and don't end up working at a bank these connections you make can always lead to offers in the future if you let's say full-time recruit after your Junior Summer internship so maintaining these relationships are super super important the next tip on the list is to be ready for all kinds of interviews while in the past Banks would only do first round phone interviews and then final arounds in person covid-19 changed everything for the most part bullish bracket Banks send candidates higher views AKA digital recorded interviews where you answer a handful of Behavioral and Technical questions and record them on your laptop and with this plus your resume they decide who get sent to superday AKA final round interviews some Elite boutiques have digital interviews as well but many still do first round interviews which are then used to determine who gets sent to the super days some banks also have their final round interviews on Zo zo While others are in person so in short you just need to be ready for everything next on the list you're going to have to craft a bulletproof story as to why you want to work in banking why do you want to work 80 to 100 hours per week do you want to do this for the money or the prestige or do you actually care about finance and know what you're getting yourself into do you just want to dip after 2 years and go into private Equity what's your story trust me when I say that these are the thoughts that go through every Banker's mind when they're interviewing candidates and you need to have a convincing answer as to why you're interested in banking and there are three important components to a good answer first is what or who inspired you to pursue Finance such as investing in the stock market and wanting to learn more or an older sibling or Mentor who works in finance second is how you acted on those interests for example Finance roles in organizations case competitions or finance internships third is what you want to gain from Investment Banking and why such as gaining exposure to high State transactions that shape industry to maximize your learning right out of college next on the list is to master not memorize technicals in order to truly do well in interviews you need to understand technical Concepts rather than just memorize answers from a PDF guide Bankers can immediately tell when a candidate is just reciting a script versus when they actually know their stuff and with so many information and resources out there available banking interviews are just getting harder and harder every single year reading about the technical Concepts is really just table stakes and so here are a few things I suggest to stand out against your peers first go to bam.com or Edgar and briefly read through 10 q's and 10ks of your favorite companies and go through their financial statements second build simple Financial models and play around with the assumptions to see the concepts in practical application and then third ask your classmates and your peers for the hardest technical mock interviews you can they can possibly give you especially if they successfully have recruited for banking because it's always better to fail during practice than during the real thing last but not least on the list always make sure to maintain your Poise the entire Investment Banking recruiting process is a grind and intense and there will be a lot of moments when you may be nervous especially if you make a mistake during interviews what you need to remember is that at the end of the day Investment Banking is a client service oriented business and so Bankers are looking to see if you are confident and can be put in front of a client when the time is right bankers will often ask tougher and tougher questions in interviews to see if you get rattled and it's okay if you're not perfect because you don't need to answer every single question right in order to get an offer to practice keeping your composure I recommend doing at least 10 mock interviews before your first interview and going through as many interview processes as you possibly can even if they're not in banking so you can build this muscle and build your confidence over the past 10 years I've used the 10 tips I've just discussed and more to help over 100 students secure offers at top firms like Morgan Stanley evercore and Goldman Sachs and I also served as the JP Morgan UC Berkeley recruiting Captain for 2 years so hopefully with this video you can tell that I know a thing or two about what it takes to break into Banking and now for the first time ever I want to offer my personal guidance to you with my mentorship program the banking accelerator I kep the number of spots to 15 people because that's the only way for me to be able to really focus on each one of you guys and help you get incredible results since I'll be working with each of you personally and so if you want to learn how to tailor your resume to banking so you land interviews leave Lasting Impressions with Bankers when networking crush your interviews and land your dream job or internship build wealth and pay off all of that pesky student debt so you can live life on your own terms work on nine and 10 figure deals build lifelong industry connections and set yourself up for elite exit opportunities on the buy side then check out the link in this video's description deson in order to get in touch with me and my team looking forward to those of you who join and working with you and for the rest thank you as always for tuning in and watching and see you in the next video [Music]

The $0 Tool That Skyrockets Website Traffic!

Long tail keywords are, what small business owners should be going after in their. Search engine, optimization strategy So what does that mean I’m a website designer So if.

I were to go after website design, as my main keyword and my main focus for everything I do.

I would be very disappointed in the results That’s, just like the granddaddy of keywords for someone like myself, and I would be competing not only nationally but quite honestly internationally for that keyword, The odds of a small business winning on something like that is really Small, We go after what’s called a long tail keyword.

A long tail keyword by definition is three words or more.

In your keyword phrase and the more words you have the longer the tail is so to speak.

So what does that mean? Instead of going for website design, I might localize my keyword search and go for something like best website designer in Vancouver Washington, which is where I live.

That would be a long tail keyword Now there are lots of tools that you can use to find these long tail keywords, and this post goes over a few of them.

One that I really like is Answer the Public, because it’s free, You get three searches a day for free, and it gives you all sorts of ideas on what people are actually putting into a search engine around a master keyword.

If I put in website design it’s going to give me questions, people are asking which would be the long tail keyword phrase.

Keywords generally, people that type them in are ready to buy The people that type in website design, for instance, are in the research phase.

They’re looking for someone they might call they’re.

Looking for differences in different website designers, they’re looking at portfolios and they’re researching their options.

If they’re putting in service based website designer near me, then they’re, often a service based business and they’re looking to buy a website from somebody who specializes in creating service based business websites.

That is a buying keyword.

So if you can win on that keyword odds are whoever is searching for.

That is your ideal customer In my instance, that is Think about your buying keyword phrases.
