Hello I'm Lucy and I'm a third year
Psychology in Education student who came to York through clearing. I understand the
day can be quite stressful and daunting which is I am here to tell you about my
personal experience to help you gain a better understanding of the process here
at York. So unfortunately I didn't get the grades I wanted to, so I wasn't
accepted into my firm or insurance choice of university. I thought the whole
idea of clearing was quite daunting but when I applied through York I found it
was actually very simple and well organised. So I found Psychology in Education
which was a program through the clearing website and I used the number to ring up
York University. When I first rang up I found I was given a number to tell me
where I was in the queue to speak somebody which I thought was very useful
and well-organised because other universities didn't give that they just
gave you, put you on hold and made you listen to the same music.
So then it gave
you an indication of how long you would be waiting. When I got through to a
member of the department and I had applied for she asked me a few questions
and took down my details and explained a little bit more about the course I'd
applied to. She then told me she would ring back in a few minutes with the
decision of whether was accepted into the course and within a few minutes she
did ring me back and she told me that had been accepted thankfully and she
explained again a little bit more about the course, asked me if I had any
questions and also informed me about the processes that would occur afterwards
through emails and things like that. I found the explanation of the processes
very simple and easy to follow, she told me about the emails and forms I
would have to complete and then the University itself was actually very
helpful as well sending lots of emails with very detailed explanations of what
I needed to do about things like, such as accommodation and making sure I was enrolled to be a student.
So previously I had visited York and it was
one of my options however if you haven't done that I wouldn't worry because they
do also offer things such as adjustment and clearing days which give
you a chance to find out more about your course and have a look around the
University which I found was very helpful..
