Replace a Bathroom Vent Fan, Easy 5 min Fix

Hey YouTube Welcome  and on today’s episode I have a vent fan in a bathroom that is  not working anymore so this is what our bent fan looks like and I flip the switch nothing happens so I’m going to show you how to remove the cover pull the motor out and  we can test it and then I’ll show you how to replace it this is your basic brone exhaust  fan for a bathroom these are found all the time in apartments and homes.

There are larger models  that have lights and stuff in them they’ll work about the same way but if there’s a light in it  then there may be an extra step of removing the light portion in order to get to the fan motor  for these you will just pull this cover plastic cover part down and it’ll kind  of spring off of their it’s held in place by a couple of wire Clips there’s one on this side  and one on this side to get those off this is difficult to film you pinch the wires together and then they’ll come out of that slot so like these have two little loops on  the end and they go up into this slot and then when you push the plastic up  to the top they spring out in there to hold the plastic up against the ceiling  so there’s one on each side I took that one off and then we’ll take this one off of this side.

And that removes the cover next we’re going to look at the fan in here the fan is plugged in  on the corner here so assuming it is plugged in then you’ll unplug it and we’re going to remove  this whole plate that is has the motor attached to it to remove the fan motor in this whole plate you  probably don’t need any tools but if it is caught on one of these screws like there’s a screw on the  side here the housing is screwed into a ceiling joist you may need a screwdriver to sort of Pop  the edge of that around a screw but if not then you won’t need any tools it’ll be clipped in the  side here there’s little grooves in the side of the housing box that it is in there’s one here and  on the opposite side here.

So what I’m going to do is kind of push out on the housing box until that  pops out of there and I’m going to need two hands to do it so I’ll put the phone down so remove the  motor I’m going to hang onto the motor with one hand and push out on the housing box on the side sort of wiggle it a little bit and then one of the sides will come off  and then the other side just slips out what holds this plate in here are these  parts that stick out on the side of the plate there’s one there there’s two on this side  so by pushing on the housing by pushing on this the housing it pushes it out off of this  part that sticks out and allows this whole piece to just kind of fall out of there  before we just run out and buy a new motor or a new fan altogether I want.

To test this one and make sure that what is wrong with it is in fact actually the motor  so what I’m going to do is take this plug and plug it into any outlet that I know works so  I’ve got one here then I’m going to plug in the fan you want when you’re plugging it in  make sure your fingers aren’t here in the fan anywhere I’ve plugged it in nothing happens so  the fan motor is clearly not working if you were to plug this into a outlet that you know works  and the fan starts spinning around then it wasn’t the fan motor that was the problem you might have  a bad switch or something else so be sure and test this before you just run out and replace  it otherwise you put a new one in there and it still won’t work now that we’ve established that  our motor has in fact gone bad we’re going.


To order a replacement when ordering a replacement  you can order just this whole piece but it only saves you about a dollar over ordering the whole  kit the whole box the whole that comes with the new cover and everything so if you’re doing a  basic fan like the one that we have here that is just the basic fan I would recommend getting  the whole thing this is the bronze 688 uh when last time I looked these were 21 on Amazon  uh you get the entire thing so you’ll get the whole housing and we’ll just  have to pop this part out like we did on the old one and you get a new cover  so you can put a new cover on their it’ll be all clean and shiny and new  if you are doing a fan that.

Is a higher end model that it’s like a 100 fan or something you can just  buy the motor so the motor part just the motor itself and I think it comes with another fan a  new fan blade but for just the motor with the fan blade I think they were about nineteen dollars so you can order just the motor and replace it in the housing that you have and I will link  that below I will put a link down there for just a motor replacement and I’ll also put a link for  this basic fan that I’m installing today and I’ll put those down below you can order them  on Amazon again if you’re ordering the basic one.

I would get the whole fan if you have a  complicated fan or a more expensive higher end model then you can just order the motor  and probably save yourself some money we have our new fan assembly and it comes inside the  housing like the other one was so we’ll need to pop it out the same way the old one did sort of push out so that this pops off the side  and then here’s the two flaps that are going the other side as you can see the new one and the old one look virtually identical so it should just be a direct replacement I’d be able to just pop this one back in the ceiling and.

Be all set when we go to put the new one in we’re going to want to line it up where there’s this  square hole for the outlet so my outlet is in this corner right here so I’m going to put that square  hole to the outlet corner now The Far Side from the outlet and it has the two tabs that stick out  I’m going to slide those in up in their first and get those lined up with the slots where they go  right here in the middle and then on the side and then I will push up the side that  is toward me and I’m going to push it all the way up until it snaps in place foreign if you heard the little pop I hope I wasn’t in the way when it did it  now that it’s in place I can go ahead and plug it in and.

I can now you’re going to want to put this hit the switch and try okay my fan did come on it came on it worked like it was supposed to so we’ll put the cover on  to put the cover on if you flip the little spring a little spring things out the sides you pinch them  and you slide them up in the slot you can do one at a time or you can try to do both  slots at the same time I kind of prefer the one at a time method so you pinch the spring  together and then it’ll go in the slot our final step is to push it up to the ceiling and there you go nice new shiny vent fan  hope you found this helpful please like And subscribe and we’ll see you back here next time Rosco Reviews.

The IAM Big Picture, The Journey ISO55000. What is Asset Management?

The question we asked was: How did you feel during the asset management journey? The image that resulted from this trip is designed to be used as a large poster to stimulate discussions in your organization about your position on this trip. You can obtain printed copies from the IAM Association website. Before the journey begins, most organizations find themselves making asset-related decisions in a reactive and isolated manner.

Cost, risk and performance must be taken into account, but each of these factors has its own team, specialization and language, without anyone being able to translate between them. Here is an example of a typical organization: the leadership team at the top makes strategic decisions far removed from the reality of the assets below. There is a clear structure that starts with planning and financing, goes down to projects and engineering, and ends with operations and maintenance at the bottom. Each bubble represents a separate tribe with its own leaders, language, customs, and rituals.

Decisions are made based on the limited information available locally, making them highly reactive.

Here is a common example: something happens to an asset that causes a major disruption; this failure could be physical, an environmental incident, or a technical malfunction. Amid the panic, those who are first on the scene feel proud of their ability to deal with the crisis, as the culture rewards heroic action. Immediately afterwards, the risk management team focuses on the incident and tries to prevent it from happening again elsewhere . Since the reasons are unknown, wide-ranging decisions are being made that the engineering team on the other side sees as excessive measures. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a way to translate the engineers’ expertise or intuition into a risk model that the risk management team understands.

The maintenance team, however, is upset because they have been warning about this for years. Now customers are starting to leave as the level of service deteriorates, leading to direct financial consequences . When liquidity runs out, the finance department postpones capital investments, which leads to further incidents, and so the cycle continues. Note that everyone makes good decisions based on the limited information they have. These people are qualified, they have certifications and standards, yet they contribute to a system that makes bad decisions overall because they are not made from a holistic perspective of the system.

If we add to that a large number of external contractors and suppliers, the idea of ​​making comprehensive decisions for the entire system may seem impossible. So how do institutions move forward? The energy needed for change comes from two sources, from top to bottom and from bottom to top. Starting from the bottom up, there are often groups of pioneers in companies trying to break down barriers, as they know that collective decision-making is key, and they work to build cross-border networks to achieve this.

From the top down, the motivation may be personal, with leaders taking responsibility for change.

At other times, external pressures come from owners or regulators. This often leads to a campaign to obtain certifications, but unfortunately, it is not uncommon for companies to seek certifications such as PAS55 or ISO55000, put the certification on the wall, and then go back to their old ways of doing business.

We need more than that. ISO55000 certification is often considered the beginning of the journey, not the end. This standard provides a framework for re-aligning assets with the organization’s objectives when making business decisions. The biggest difference now is that people are sitting together at the table to make decisions collectively. But this also reveals how much is missing before these decisions start to be perfect.


The clouds here represent some of the challenges that stand in the way. Given the strategic objectives, they are often unclear, expressed in contradictory language and conflicting directions. When looking at assets, without historical data, we tend to rely on assumptions and guesswork. Many of the processes that provide us with information are not yet known or integrated. With such an incomplete system in place, the greatest risk is that people will become skeptical that the organization will actually change. This could take us back to the blame game, where the company could invest in a decision support tool that no one really understands.

Local maintenance staff are frustrated because their professional judgments are being ignored. At the same time, increased awareness of asset management concepts and techniques may lead to a feeling of empowerment. But if the culture does not change as well, this empowerment may lead to the creation of new barriers or silos. Although this stage may be imperfect, simply having a system that brings people together to make decisions will yield quick wins, which will provide an incentive for further investment in transformation activities.

Unfortunately, these activities cannot be done all at once. Therefore, there must be winners and losers, with interventions being prioritized based on the greatest benefit for all. But in a way, this is the future of things.

Until teams are prepared to accept that the right decision for the business as a whole may be the wrong decision for them locally, optimal asset management decisions will not be possible. So, looking ahead, what is the optimal decision for asset management? In general, we can say that the optimal decision is the one that increases the value of assets in the long term by aligning them with business objectives and goals. But what this decision looks like will vary greatly from business to business, and from industry to industry. However, there are a number of factors common to all outstanding asset management organizations. First, the leaders of these organizations not only guide others to cooperate, but they themselves demonstrate concrete examples of how to cooperate. Secondly, these organizations view asset management as a philosophy of continuous improvement, not as a one-time transformation program; it is an ongoing journey, not a final destination.

Third, in these organizations, everyone plays their part, regardless of their position or seniority. Management policies and asset management systems provide a framework for integrated decision-making, but these organizations are very flexible in how insights and information are transferred between different teams. An example of this is how an organization handles its data. Good decisions depend on good information, and when there is a shared understanding between teams about the decisions you need, they can reach a consensus on the information required and how to obtain it.

In an asset management culture, information is considered an asset in itself that is cared for for the benefit of the entire organization. This information is useful not only in the present, but also for future generations.

But perhaps the most obvious difference in an organization with an asset management culture is the feeling that you are part of it. Because the organization is constantly learning and improving, risks become more controlled and accidents become less frequent. This allows for broader thinking about greater innovation possibilities. Thinking about the long-term future, what can be learned from other industries, or even thinking about the reasons why this organization exists. This is the journey our members have described to us, so where are you? Which elements seem most familiar to you? Who do you need to talk to in order to move things forward in your work?

It’s all about having the right conversations.

One World Trades Observatory At 35 dollars This is the highest view in the United States, And you just feel. like you own the city However, it’s fully enclosed Which is why I put this as a runner up to Top of the Rock If money is an issue You’ve got a few options You could go to a rooftop bar And order a beer or cocktail 230 Fifth has the best rooftop views for sure And they allow children for Sunday Brunch Dear Irvings Not To Shabby either If you’re on a budget and want to get up there A cheap option is to take the Tram To Roosevelt Island From Manhattan Just swipe your Metro Card and quite an impressive view I must say You’re going to do a lot of walking in New York City But this is one iconic walk..

That everybody’s got to try At least once I encourage you to come early in the day To do this Unless you like huge crowds But there’s something special about walking slightly over 1 mile From Manhattan to Brooklyn The views are fantastic And the photo opportunities, endless And when you get to the Dumbo Neighborhood of Brooklyn on the other side There’s plenty to do This is definitely not something to skip On your first trip When you think of New York City Times Square literally may be the first image that comes to mind Now as a resident I try to avoid the place at all costs But if you’ve never visited before You’ve got to go..

Visit Chelsea Market nearby And eat some delicious tacos At Los Tacos Number 1 I may be a little bit bias Since I live there But walking around Greenwich and West Village in Manhattan To me Is a requirement I just love this part of Manhattan Which doesn’t give off that big city vibe at all You’ll feel more like a local And there’s so many cute shops to pop into Try some coffee at Porto Rico Importers Relax in Washington Square Park And enjoy tons of live music This area also has some of the highest concentration Of pizza places In the world If you like bookstores Three Lives & Co gives off a really cozy vibe But if you ask me Just wandering the West Village Is about as relaxing as it gets In Manhattan Because there’s more than enough hectic, to go around The Statue of Liberty may be the most famous icon of New York City And there’s a few ways that you can see it I’m honestly not going to tell you To spend your money to go on a crowded boat just to see the statue a bit closer I always tell people To take the free Staten Island Ferry Sit on the right side And get a pretty decent view from afar But if this is on your bucket list Then you need to do it right My friend Jacob Carlson did a whole video On how to get inside the Statue of Liberty..

To go to the top of the crown And I’m linking to it with a card above It costs just $21.50 And you can only get it from the National Parks Service website But fair warning This sells out months in advance As they limit it to just 500 tickets per day This is definitely one of the more unique things you could do in New York And a photographers dream come true In fact, save a ticket for me Because I’ve never even gone inside It’s not very common To suggest visiting a transit hub But Grand Central Terminal Is more than just a place to catch a train While nearly 1 million people walk through every day On their way to work It’s also a popular attraction Because of its architecture and history We can start with admiring the world’s largest Tiffany Clock On the exterior Or looking at the zodiac mural Up above One of the city’s finest pieces Of public art Here’s a fun one Have a cocktail at the Speakeasy-esque Campbell Bar Which is straight out of the Gilded Age Talk to your friend on the other side at the Whispering Gallery And just wander around one of New York’s Most famous landmarks A little bonus tip The basement food court has some really Great options Like Shake Shack And Magnolia Bakery New York has not only some of the most famous museums in the world But also some of the most diverse options of them as well You could dedicate entire days just to visiting museums In the Big Apple There’s the really famous ones And you should hit up at least one Moma The Metropolitan Museum of Art Or the Natural History Museum Of course if you want to go off the beaten path There’s every type of museum imaginable From City Reliquary Which houses all sorts of oddities In Brooklyn To my personal favorite The transit museum Where you can sit in old subway cars But whatever your taste is There’s a museum for you In New York New York City has some of the best performers in the world Living here..

And you owe it to yourself. to go to at least one show I know tickets can be expensive But I really push any visitor to New York To try to go at least once If you want to save the most money Either visit one of the TKTS booths Or use the app on your phone To see what shows have the biggest discounts You could also buy directly from the app Today Tix Which I highly recommend But the performers are absolutely world class And going to a Broadway Show Is one of the highlights Of many peoples trips To honor the history of New York City This is one Memorial I’m going to recommend you pay your respects to I admit visiting here is a sobering experience But honoring the many men.. women Firefighters, first responders and police officers That gave their lives that day Is as far as I’m concerned.

No. So, you just like to boil the water with the coffee grounds and be like, you know what? We’re just going to have both of ’em together to get as much caffeine outate this thing as I can. I chew it up as I drink it. Yeah, it’s great. No worries. I gave a brief introduction to your expertise, but can you give the listeners a little bit more about what you do? Yeah, you got it, man. 13 years of affiliate marketing and digital marketing experience.

I’ve, I’ve ran merchant programs and my own agency over the last five, and I help small companies, SMBs, especially in the SaaS department, to grow and create an affiliate program that actually works. And that’s, that’s what I’m passionate about. I, I actually teach a course now that teaches everything that I know and help giving back to the community of affiliate marketing as, as we know it today. All right. And what has changed in affiliate marketing since the explosion of AI and the pandemic in general? Because the pandemic has, has, we’ve all said, changed everything. Sure thing. The pandemic. First of all, affiliate marketing was one of those fields that actually blew up.

So in instead of being a detriment to most of society, affiliate marketing actually profited enormously over shooting their.




Expect stated growth in in affiliate just because Covid brought everything online. So much more and revenue was generated online, significantly increased for affiliate marketing. So, and then I forgot the other question, Brett, what was the other part of that? AI as well. So we had liked the pandemic and then like two years later it was an AI is everywhere. AI is everywhere, and affiliate marketing is getting easier because content can pre-produced via AI significantly faster. And there are quite a few programs out there, chat, GPT, of course, and then you’ve got things like Jasper AI and some others that are just absolutely killing it out there and helping affiliate marketers produce content at a much faster click. Got you. And so do you have any like latest stats, like just an overview stat or just like affiliate market? You said it blew up.

Is it still blowing up now as we’ve seen it, or has it kind of like plateaued a little bit? Are we seeing that type of like slowdown? I. There is, there is no end in sight to its uptick in growth. Companies every day are figuring out the power of having a army of sales reps that are paid on a commission basis. ’cause that’s exactly what affiliate marketing does. And no, the, it continues to scale. I winna say 2023 is destined. Some in saying number like $12 billion coming through the affiliate channel altogether. And I like to say a, a good affiliate program will cover an additional 20% of your revenue that you have existing by just adding in those kinds of partnerships that are going to be a good fit for your product.

Yes. And that actually leads into my next question. How do PR pros and marketers create a great affiliate programing? ’cause everybody can create one.

But not all of them are good.

Oh, absolutely. And they’re not all built the same. There’s 50 different softwares to choose from the management aspect, which is extraordinarily important. There’s this very odd thought process. The industry that. You can just go out and create an affiliate program, and all these affiliates are going to come on in and join your program. And that just couldn’t be further from the truth. Like companies very quickly realize that it doesn’t matter how good your offer is or how, how you think partners are going to swarm on in. You have to beat the streets and get the word out about your program and expand your brand.

And it’s a lot of hard work affiliate managers.

Affiliate management is a full-time job if you’re doing it right and you really winna expand with it because you can never have enough recruitment to your program. So that, does that mean for creating a great affiliate program is to actually have like good incentives? Is it good to have like a great onboarding process like. What other things should marketers know if they’re just trying to start at it out? Yeah, absolutely. The all of the above. To answer your question, yes, you have to have an appealing offer. You have to check your competitors. You have to make sure that your competitors, I. Are not offering something well above what you’re offering to your partners.

And if they are beating you out, you just can’t handle those margins, then you have to figure out other ways to incentivize them. Maybe that’s free accounts, maybe that’s free products, maybe that’s an SEO link backlink to them. Just whatever you have to utilize to get them into your program rather than sending traffic to your competitors. It’s what you’re going to have to learn how to figure out. So best, best-case scenario is getting help before you are creating a program and just try to make it happen on your own.

It’s almost always a recipe for disaster if you don’t get some kind of consultant in there to, to help you build this thing out right the first time. And then, like you said before, how AI has changed at all. How can you, I, I guess, implement AI into that? Affiliate marketing where it actually is useful? Yeah. From the brand’s perspective of things using ai, it, it hasn’t hit the ground like it has for building content on the publication side. So the publishers are using AI every single day to help them create 1500-word blog posts in a matter of minutes rather than hours or days.
