In this video, I’m going to talk about the 5 Truths About social media that product launchers from WarriorPlus, JVZoo and Clickbank, don’t want you to know. So social publishing apps are a dime a dozen. Lately, if you’ve checked out my YouTube channel you’ll see that I’ve reviewed a few of these social media publishing apps, typically on WarriorPlus and they all promise to give you social traffic on autopilot to different networks or multiple networks. So Klever does, uh, it’s a mainly around Facebook and Buzz is around it supports eight or nine different social media apps depending on what you read.
So, the reality is, is that social media and publishing apps are a dime a dozen and the reason I say that is because most of the sales pages of these particular applications, promise to be new and world-class.
Social media has been around since 2006, so over 14 years. So publishing apps have been around for just as long. There is nothing new about any of these applications, even though they want you to think so. The more reputable social media publishing apps that you should consider are going to be on the right here. That’s going to be Hootsuite and Buffer.
They will be around today, tomorrow and in the future. These applications on the left are questionable. So let’s talk about how social media works and why this is really important. So, you have content that you share across these different networks.
So, I have six of the most popular ones listed here but there are many more as we know, right?
So you’ll notice that Pinterest is not mentioned and across the world, there are different networks that are more popular, across different parts of the world. But these are just six of the most popular ones, so you can count 10, 11, maybe even more and depending on what type of, sort of, you classify as networks. Tumblr is kind of questionable if it’s a network but it typically falls in this bucket. So you have these communities, uh, these social network platforms. What makes these special is the people inside these platforms.
It’s not the platform itself, it’s the communities of people that are in this. And the reason I bring this up is because, just pushing content to these social network platforms doesn’t mean anyone is going to see your content. The reality is you want your content seen by the people that are inside these platforms and just pushing out content to these platforms, doesn’t do that.
You really need to be involved in these communities and that’s why it’s called social networks, because it is a social environment where it supports interacting, engagement and collaboration. Once you have the content you can actually share it on the network.
You can submit, you know, basically send those, to traffic . those people to a blog page and inside that blog page, you can have a potential email capture form where you can build your own community. So this is sort of one way of how it works. You have to be careful on social networks when you’re promoting to just an affiliate offer. In some cases Facebook will reject the post, depending on what the affiliate offer is and what the page is.
There are some sort of affiliate networks and affiliate programs, that are not deemed classifiable by Facebook, and they don’t, they just uh, deem it spam. So typically the best way to get around that is to post the content on a landing page or a website, not to a direct affiliate offer. And have your affiliate offers embedded in your content. So here we go with The 5 Truths About Social Media that you need to know…
So, Truth #1: Social Media is NOT Free Social media cost a lot of your time. um One organic post on Facebook, Instagram or twitter won’t make a dent on your bank account but it will consume a lot of time. And you add that over and over and over..
. You’re going to spend more time than you may see results. So if you value your time to be worth $50, say, that’s how much you go out and, uh, get for an hour of consulting work for some sort of service…
Then each hour on social media, cost you $50, so two hours cost you $100, five hours cost you $250 and ten hours, just say you spend ten hours a week on social media…
That’s costing you $500 a week! Which obviously, you keep multiplying and that starts accounting for a lot of money of your time.
Truth #2: You Can’t Succeed on Every Platform at Once So a lot of times, these applications, uh, boast and brag about you being able to build these multiple communities across at once The reality is you can’t do that. It’s nearly impossible to get the experience you want, if you are trying to manage and grow six or more social media accounts at once. It is always best practice to focus on one. So focus on one network, to actually see results, and then you move on to another one. And you only need to be where your ideal customer hangs out.
So each platform has its own sort of type of audience: Tik Tok has a very, very, young audience. Facebook can have sort of a young to older audience. Instagram has sort of a younger audience. So with some minimal research, you can figure out what audience your network has and then figure out who your ideal customer is.
And that’s where you want to be.
So you don’t need to be across every social network. You need to be on the ones that matter. Truth #3: Social Media is NOT a One-Way Broadcast So you won’t get high converting traffic if you just continuously brag about yourself and your business all the time. Social networks are meant to be interactive communities. They’re meant for two or more way communications where they want to connect, they want to share, and they want to collaborate.
So you as a business owner and entrepreneur, you want to share content that provides: value to your audience, helps them in some sort of way, and entices them to engage with your post and content.
Truth #4: You Need to Post Consistently, Not 100 x a day So a lot of times when you read about how much, how often, you should post and there are publishing guides and schedules, that you can research. You can Google and it’s, in some cases, you’ll see that: twitter…
they say to post three to five times a day Facebook it might be two to three times a week. Those are meant to be guidelines but the reality is if you are spending all of your time, posting three to five times a day on social media and then you add in six or more networks at once, um… You’re going to be sacrificing that time for this social media from something else and especially a small business owner, you have limited time and you have always have plenty to do, right?
So for you to see true results on social media, it actually comes from posting consistently regardless of the number of posts per day and per week. And you want to identify a frequency that is sustainable for you to maintain long term. That’s more important than posting a hundred times a day.
Truth #5 social media is NOT Great for Finding New Customers So this is kind of a big one, right, and these applications like to promote that, that you can get all these new leads and new customers and new buyers from the social media platforms that it connects you with, typically sometimes, billions at a time. Social content has very short lifespans, short user attention spans, and everyone’s attention spans are shrinking.
And then saturation is high, so everyone is on social media. Every business is on social media. You are not the only one business. You are competing for space and attention and time. Social media is great for connecting with your existing customers where you can focus on building relationships with your content, with them.
And the idea is to get your followers to share your content with others and recommend you to their personal network, THAT can actually result in new customers. So I hope that helps you out next time you read those sales pages with all those big promises. Know these are the 5 Truths they don’t want you to know about social media.
