There are some error message date tutorials out there to connect to your Playstation 3 via ftp so in this video I’m going to show you the proper way to accomplish this. Please note that you will need to be running a custom Playstation 3 firmware or PS3 hen reason you want to learn how to do it first is more convenient than copying less steps you may need to move all those files to a USB drive first, then you have to drive the USB in Playstation 3 and then copy them to your Playstation3.
Another huge benefit is that you can transfer files larger than 4 gigabytes just like iso image files for games fat32 there is a 4 GB file limit so if you are using a USB drive you will not be able to transfer files larger than 4 GB no problem using ftp this guide assumes you have custom firmware installed on your playstation 3 or you are running a ps3 hen and if multiplayer is installed you will need to learn how to do these things I linked for you in the following instructions you will need The first thing to do is make sure you are connected to the internet so go to settings then scroll all the way to the bottom go to network settings then press the x button go to internet connection then press the x button a side menu will pop up select enable Then press the x button.
From here you need to set the actual settings for your internet connection. Scroll down to the Internet connection settings and press It’s easy from here, I’m using a wired setup so I’ve plugged the ethernet cable into the back so I can check the connection settings and as you can see it’s automatic here so just press the x button to go ahead and now it’s going to test you The internet connection is a good idea and everything has been tested, press the circle here to return to the menu.
Now you will have an IP address and then need to get that information in order to connect via ftp.
Scroll until you complete the settings and connection status list and press the x button from this menu. , you can get your IP address as shown here, record this information in this document as you will need it in order to connect to ftp Set up the PlayStation 3 on Now go online to start multiplayer as you will need to Here are some things to do to get ftp up and running On the game tab go to multiplayer content manager and use the x button to launch it scroll to the top settings ribbon menu then scroll down to ftp services press the x button.
You will see the side menu pop up on the right hand side the best option out of these is to go to enable then go until there is no timeout then press the x button this is the only thing you need to do multiplayer to activate ftp but multiplayer must remain open PlayStation 3 keeps ftp active, if you turn off multiplayer and then go back to main character mob on PlayStation 3 you will lose the FTP connection and you will need to go back to multiplayer so make sure you keep it open at all times you all want to use ftp you have to do it on ps3 let’s go into your pc and set it up the open source file zilla ftp client is a great software it’s completely free I found the link relevant to you in the following instructions And mac users thankfully you can follow the exact same method procedure click here to download FileZilla client this link will direct you to the correct correction page for the correct version of FileZilla for your operating system in this case for Windows 10.
Click the download link to go here this is what you want download this one here because the other ones that have features that you don’t need will even cost you money point to this green download pointer box and click on it to finally get the download yes i know it’s like download but this takes you to the correct version of FileZilla the correct version of FileZilla for your operating system and the free version at this point unless you have what you want to download to put on your ps3 you complete the download.
The operation of the file can close the web browser. You need to install FileZilla to get it running on your system.
Since this is a Windows system, go to the file browser and go to the download folder. FileZilla has been downloaded here as an exe file. I recommend running Installer If available, run as system administrator with administrative privileges. Right-click Run as administrator and click Yes.

From here it is just a series of clicks. Next, there are no custom settings. You need to select here so you can click next to continue a few times and we’re just going to slow down the rules for a minute because I want to point something out to you about the process of this installer that you need to pay attention to and from here on out you’re going to Go to Get some offers on some software you may or may not want for your computer and if you click accept it is going to go straight up and then install during the installer, I didn’t need any of that stuff so I moved down and single Click this way, if you do not want any of these offered software to be installed on your computer click Deny then the installation process of installing FileZilla starts from here click Finish and FileZilla will be launched for the first time Remember the IP address you wrote in Get into the PlayStation 3 process earlier.
You’ll need it now to get connected, so go to this box in the upper left corner that says console and enter your IP address in this. For example it’s 192.168.0.43 but you’ll almost certainly be Not the same, so don’t enter what you see here Enter your IP address and click Quick Connect or press the Enter key on your keyboard and you may get a message saying the connection is not secure No problem, click OK’ to continue and click on it you will get this screen where all these drives are accessible to you on your PlayStation 3 and you want to dev underscore hdd0 which stands for the internal hard drive on the PlayStation 3.
Okay so on the right side is the drive On the PlayStation 3 On the left is stuff for your computer You may want to move some of the sega main system files earlier I have the files in my downloads folder over to the PlayStation 3 for retro arching That’s where we are now To do make sure you are downloading the folder or whatever is in it you want to move on the left click on dev hdd0 on the right and navigate to the folder you want to use In this case it is specific to traceback but you may want to move other types of files PlayStation 3 isos PlayStation 2 isos PlayStation 1 bend file or pep isos you can do the same by doing the same process we will talk about how to run all of them in the upcoming video now you just drag the content Want to move from left side to right side and FileZilla will do that and transfer it to your playstation3.
You can monitor the progress of the transfer in this message center here and as you can see here everything is moving fine but if you encounter any error messages or any interference in your gearbox they will be there throughout the transfer process And once you receive this message, it means that any folder in the directory list that you have been transferring files to is completed and now you can go ahead and move things to your playstation3.
